“Personally Identifiable Information” is information that identifies you or another individual, or can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact or locate you or the other individual, including, but not limited to, contact information (such as your name, address, telephone number and email address) and financial information (such as your credit card or bank account number).
The information collected by Reporta is encrypted for transmission and stored on secured, access-restricted servers. IWMF continuously monitors these servers and conducts regular security testing.
IWMF may collect, store and use any information you choose to provide, including your Personally Identifiable Information and information you provide about another individual. For example, such information is collected about you when you: (a) register as a user of Reporta; (b) use any messaging functions available through Reporta; or (c) enter information into Reporta, including for example, when you enter contact information about yourself and others.
We use tools, including third-party analytical software, to automatically collect certain data about the device on which you use Reporta, including but not limited to: (i) device properties, such as the device identifier; (ii) the device operating system and firmware; (iii) mobile phone carrier; (iv) geographical data such as country, region and/or city; (v) when and where you activate Reporta; (vi) the manner in which you use Reporta; (vii) the frequency with which you use Reporta to communicate with and issue alerts to others; and (viii) other similar data. We may also use server log analysis tools to gather and analyze information regarding errors experienced by users. This information may be collected via several technologies, including cookies.

IWMF will collect Personally Identifiable Information from Reporta. IWMF may use the Personally Identifiable Information you provide, separately or in combination with other information IWMF collects, for the following purposes (but not limited to such purposes):
If you are using Reporta from a country outside the United States, you acknowledge and agree that in using Reporta, you may transfer Personal Information about yourself to the United States; that the data protection laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as those in your own country; and that transferring this personal information occurs with your consent. Personally Identifiable Information collected through Reporta may be stored and processed in the United States, under the laws of the United States.
We may disclose your Personally Identifiable Information and other information to third parties, as follows:
From time to time, we may disclose aggregate information about users of Reporta, including the information described in Paragraph 2.b above, to service providers, partners, or others, or by publishing a report on the usage of Reporta. IWMF shall make every effort to ensure the released information does not contain any information that can personally identify you.
Except as described above, IWMF DOES NOT RENT, SELL OR OTHERWISE PROVIDE YOUR PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT.
IWMF follows generally accepted security practices and procedures to protect the Personally Identifiable Information you provide from unauthorized access, use and disclosure. We require our authorized service providers to implement and maintain such security practices and procedures as well. Nevertheless, be aware that Internet transmissions are never completely private or secure.
Reporta includes the following features to safeguard your data:
One of IWMF’s core principles in the development of Reporta is to minimize the information we retain. The Personally Identifiable Information you provide will be stored and maintained by IWMF for as long as we believe it is necessary or appropriate to (a) carry out the purpose(s) for which such information was collected, or (b) to comply with applicable laws, contracts or other rules or regulations.
We safeguard your data in several ways:
- Reporta uses highly secure, redundant, dedicated servers. Reporta’s servers are dedicated exclusively to Reporta and not shared with any other organization, app or service provider.
- All Personally Identifiable Information associated with a Check-in will be deleted from the IWMF database 30 days after the Check-in’s expiration time.
- All contact data in your Contact Circles will be deleted from Reporta's database if you have not accessed or used Reporta for 12 months.
- Summarized, non-Personally Identifiable Information from Reporta may be retained and analyzed by the IWMF to help advise journalists and media organizations about incidents reported.
- Data received will be disaggregated by gender, type of employment and other variables (location, category of incident, etc.).
- IWMF will make all analyses and reports available to Reporta users on the IWMF website: www.iwmf.org .
Reporta is intended for adults. Accordingly, we do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.
We do not support Do Not Track on Reporta at this time. Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference you can set in your web browser to indicate that you do not want certain information about your webpage visits collected across websites when you have not interacted with that service on the page.
